John Bernard is a multi-award winning marketer, start-up advisor and the Sales & Marketing Leader at Malvern Panalytical - part of the Spectris Group PLC.
John is a leading marketer who has had a transformational and worldwide impact on companies and their customers in the technology sector.
Previously, John was the Global Marketing Director at Mozilla, leading strategy and Go-to-Market for the Firefox Brand. Prior to this silicon-valley experience, he was in senior global commercial roles in the mobile industry with Sony Ericsson, Siemens and LG Mobile. Here, John raised awareness and gained market share through launching multiple mobile phones and services worldwide and targeted advertising, promotional campaigns, digital, PR and retail activity.
Some of John’s achievements are creating and leading innovation in tech. At Siemens, he developed and launched the world’s first Java mobile game on the Siemens M50 to trailblaze the mobile gaming concept; and at LG, he co-developed and launched the world’s first touchscreen phone, the LG Prada.
John is also a lifelong ambassador for the advertising industry and its development, pioneering the first digital physical outdoor media in the UK for the LG Chocolate phone, paving the way for physical carousel billboards and in turn, digital outdoor.
For these efforts, John has received recognitions, including being conferred an Honorary Doctorate in 2018 from the University of Huddersfield for ‘Services to Marketing’, for his lifetime’s work of innovation and entrepreneurship, especially in the tech and marketing industry.
In 2013, John achieved the ‘Senior Marketer of the Year’ award from Marketing Week magazine. In 2019, he was further awarded the UK 'Inspirational Leader of the Year' award from The Marketing Society, continuing to be credited with driving new technology to commercial successes.
John has served on the Board of the Chartered Institute of Marketing for a decade. He is a spokesperson within the mobile, healthcare and tech industries.
